2008 Bobcat 323

Our Bobcat 323 excavator is a clever workhorse.  It has a retractable undercarriage that allows it to fit through 42″ openings, so its an excellent urban landscaping tool.  It can fit through a typical Seattle side yard to access the back yard when the job site has no alley.  It has terrific lifting strength for it’s size, and weighs less than my Dad’s car*.

In this picture I have most of a stump from a walnut tree in the clenched jaws of the excavator.  I was so impressed that the machine could wrest the stump from its perch in the soil that I stopped to take a portrait of the machine and it’s conquest.  I really appreciate that we dared to use so much of our financial resources to purchase this piece of equipment those few years ago.  I don’t know if it’s paid for itself in yet economic terms , but I do know that I can accomplish more creative and productive work with it.

*my Dad’s car is referenced in an earlier Blog post.  Can you find it?
