22 Sep Hey, Mister Rain!
Just the other week we were toiling away under extreme-for-us heat. It may have been in the mid-eighties for several days this past month, but us northwesteners sure do wither in the heat of the August sun. Much to our relief the “rain” has returned and with it the reasonable, agreeable climate that so many of us enjoy, we who thrive in the partial light of overcast skies and are comfortable with daytime temperature highs in the mid-fifties, Fahrenheit.
Porter met with his peers in the first meeting of this years Youth Advisory Board at the EMP. In a get-to-know-you effort the facilitator asked the young adult Seattleites what was their most anticipated event for the upcoming new season. As a professional musician and as a proctor of culture at a music museum he may have intended he question to be leading toward a an answer that would express enthusiasm toward an upcoming cultural event. To a person, these young denizens of culture, each one having been selected from a pool of promising, eager and fully socially literate youth responded that they were ready for the rain to return. It’s like that here. We’re into our rain.
Welcome back, rain.
