02 Jul Organic Sheet Composting on a slope
We welcome an opportunity to implement our organic landscaping strategies on even the most challenging sites.
For this project, the homeowner wanted a way to address the difficult to mow slope and wanted to achieve a low-maintenance result. We suggested a planting plan, but first we needed to address the existing vegetation, amend the soil and do so in a chemical free way.
The twist on the conventional sheet compost technique in this case relies on our use of wooden stakes to hold the cardboard, compost, and arbor chips on the hillside.

In nine months time, the sloped field will have transformed from wild, hard to mow, invasive and undesirable weeds into rich, black, fertile nearly organic soil ready for our planting plan. But even now, we dig the way the landscape has transformed. Arbor chips can be lovely in the right application, don’t you think?

Posted at 15:46h, 24 JanuaryI can imagine the biological process that occurs that makes the soil organically transfer from weed-strewn garbage into fertile, rich and environmentally friendly loam.
Thank you for working so hard to save the small portion of the planet you work in!
