29 Sep Gaudi: a Traditional Spanish Restaurant
Last night we celebrated yet another Nancy’s birthday at a Seattle restaurant, this time it was our own Nancy who was the lady of honor! Our friends Nancy and James treated us to a fun multi-dish extravaganza at a place in the Ravenna neighborhood neither one of us had been. It’s a family run place where the husband is the chef and the hostess is the chief. The Nancys mentioned to her that we were new to Spanish cuisine, so she made several suggestions, mostly concerning procedure.
We ordered many tapas dishes, more than I counted. Some memorable ones were the salted cod, the chickpea patties, the chorizo skewers and the air cured pork salami. Each tapas dish was a few dollars. The next time I go I’ll order strictly tapas, the entree I ordered was unexciting. The Nancys split the paella dish. It was nicely presented and the two bites I stole were tasty, but if I’m honest, the only seafood I ever really enjoy is the stuff I cook myself. But that’s just my idiosyncrasy. It really was lovely food. Seventy-six stars on the highly subjective and not too rational Fasoldt Gardens restaurant review scale of excellence.
